The Macromolecular Structure and Function Core Facility (MSFCF) supports Biochemistry and Structural Biology researchers at UC Santa Cruz and the surrounding area. We provide state of the art instrumentation, supplies, and expertise to assist researchers in the structural characterization of biological macromolecules.  Resources are available for crystallization and structure determination as wells as biophysical characterization of  macromolecular stability and interactions.

Services provided by MSFCF include:

  • Biophysical characterization of macromolecular structure, stability, and interactions.
  • High throughput crystallization screening at variable temperatures.
  • X-ray diffraction data collection and analysis.
  • Macromolecular structure determination using x-ray crystallography.
  • Secondary structure characterization and thermal stability using circular dichroism.
  • Quantitative measurements of macromolecular interactions using isothermal titration calorimetry.
